Alison Fiona Lethbridge-Stewart is the daughter of Katherine Lethbridge-Stewart and Robert Matthews.
Sister of Gordan Lethbridge-Stewart.

Growing up, Alison spend a lot of time with her father and older brother, Gordan. From what she can remember she didn't see much of her mother due to her working responsibilities, which put a huge strain on their relationship, finding it difficult to open up to her mother about her personal life, which often meant feeling isolated as a teen when relationship issues began coming to life. However, the older she got the more she understood how much her mother's work meant to her, and although she still slightly resented the woman, she didn't hold as much of a grudge. Through a lot of her youth she found herself sneaking into her older brothers room to sleep, hearing her parents argue at all hours caused the young female fear, and only her big brother could keep her safe. It wasn't until the divorce that put a huge strain on the whole families relationship. Gordan was old enough to care for himself and understand the situation, meaning he choose to stay with Kate, whereas Robert had insisted Ali lived with him, it wasn't until Ali's 16th birthday that she'd insisted on moving back in with Gordan and her mother.Young Adulthood
Ali was exceptionally bright for her age, with a lot of attention being lacked at home, the young female had delved into her studies, spending more time in the library than in her bed. Once attending university, her life slowly began to begin. She began creating friends who's fields of interest were very similiar to her own. She'd piled her workload on herself quite a bit, with her mother showing signs of reaching out and her father trying to keep her home she'd needed an excuse to spend time with neither of them. Graduating with a degree in Biological Sciences, as well as taking on some extra modules within Chemistry and Physics. She later took on a Masters in Physics and Mathematics' to further her studies.UNIT Life
When her mother had asked her to join UNIT part time, she'd been sceptical. Kate had been asked by others to recruit her daughter after being headhunted, they believed the young female to be more likely to join if her own mother requested it. She hadn't taken the job for her mother, however she did join UNIT, because she believed it to be something her grandfather would've wanted. She often found herself working in a team run by Osgood, who she quickly came to admire. It was also during this time that she began to build a relationship with her mother once again.Personality
Ali grew up very reserved, often refusing to talk about her feelings or emotions, however she's a hopeless romantic, and loves the idea of love. She's very stubborn and often stands her ground, just like her mother, something her father was never keen on. Alison is very committed to the cause, not liking to break away from a challenge before it's completed.

Grandfather. Although she didn't get to see much of him until his final days, as a kid she was always excited to see him and hear about his stories of aliens. Her grandfather would then state "But of course aliens aren't real." with a wink. He was her inspiration to go into the field of science and learn all about space. Grandmother. Pretty much the only consistent female figure in her life. Felt like she'd lost a piece of herself after her passing. Grandmothers cookies made any ache or pain feel better. Mother. Ali and Kate had an extremely strained relationship until Ali began working for UNIT. To the point that she'd refer to her as Kate instead of mom. The first time she called her mom was after an incident with the Slitheen where she'd almost died. They began being more open with each other, and Ali finally felt like she could talk to her mother again, especially since they didn't have to lie about their work to each other.Robert Matthews

Ali was extremely close to her dad growing up since he basically raised her as a single father, however that didn't stop their relationship beginning to strain once she was older, especially when she'd decided to work alongside her mother, and even more so when her father announced he was getting re-married to a woman who had disliked Ali since the day they met.Gordan Lethbridge Stewart
Brother. Gordan was her best friend growing up. He'd protect her from the reality of their home life, make her feel safe even when the arguments could be heard through the walls. Adoptive younger sister. Ali had a very distant relationship with Robin when she was first adopted into their family. This was due to a little bit of jealousy as she felt as though Robin got the life with her mother she as a child deserved. However over time Ali took time to actually get to know the young girl and the two soon bonded. Ali would now do whatever it took to protect her and keep her from any more harm.
